About LostMuse

For those who don’t know, a muse is an inspiration, it is whatever inspires you to do what you love to do. The dictionary defines muse as:

1. Greek Mythology Any of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, each of whom presided over a different art or science.

2. Muse: a. A guiding spirit. b. A source of inspiration.

3. Muse: A poet.

Lost Muse Studios was started by two very good friends: Tyto Alba and Kavi Elwyn. Tyto is an amazing artist with a flair for the comedic, and Kavi is an author with a mischievous mind. Both girls wanted to break into the comic world and began working together in 2008 on a fan comic called ‘Overcharm’ and an original space/cowboy anthro called ‘Accipiter.’

The name Lost Muse, was chosen because of the frequency with which Kavi and Tyto’s muse would vanish. The girls used to joke about their ‘muses’ giving them personalities and making up small anecdotes. For instance when Kavi got writers block in March and couldn’t think of one word, she would joke that her muse had run away with a leprechaun. Tyto’s muse also enjoyed sporadic outings and devilish adventures.

The Lost Muse is a fickle and mischievous spirit, given life by Tyto’s beautiful depiction of the purple haired child. The girls decided at the end of 2008, to try and make a business out of the hobby they both enjoyed so much. They began designing merchandise, setting up a Website, and fine tuning a brand new comic endeavor-Where’s the Forest-which will premier February 17th 2009.
